It was a pitcher's duel on Thursday, May 21st at Ellsworth, as two of the best in the Penobscot Valley Conference took the mound when Old Town played Ellsworth. In the end, Old Town nipped Ellsworth 1-0.

Ellsworth's Conor Maguire threw 98 pitches and allowed just 3 hits and struck out 8.The 1 run he gave up was unearned.

Old Town's Eric Hoogterp threw 101 pitches and struck out 11. He scattered 6 hits and walked 2.

Old Town scored the lone run in the top of the 3rd inning. Crawford reached on an error and stole 2nd base. He advanced to 3rd base on Byther's ground out to shortstop and scored on Eric Hoogterp's single.

For Old Town Stoddard had 2 singles and went 2-3. Hoogterp was 1-3.

For Ellsworth Conor Maguire was 1-3, Griffin Nightengale was 1-3, Devin Wright was 2-3. Troy Folmer and Charlie Libby were 1-1 and Avery Anderson was 1-3

Old Town remains unbeaten and are now 13-0 and are the lone unbeaten team in Class B East. The Coyotes travel to MDI to take on the Trojans on Saturday, May 23rd at 12 Noon.

Ellsworth is 7-5 and will play Washington Academy in  Machias on Friday, May 22nd at 4:30
