MDI High School’s Ultimate Frisbee Team Beats Gray-New Gloucester Loses to Freeport

"Our team, the Silly Gooses, fought hard in both games, even through the pouring rain of the whole second game. For a majority of the team, these were their first ever actual games. We’ve also only been able to practice on a field once so far this season, and so I’m super proud of how they played! Great cuts, some beautiful (and muddy) layouts, and quick & short passes to combat the wind. Above all, Ultimate Frisbee is about what’s called “Spirit of the Game,” and these Silly Gooses sure brought the spirit today.

Part of Spirit is the fact that there are no referees in Ultimate. Players have to make their own calls, so they have to work on communicating with each other and the other team on the field. There were a few tough calls that were made in our games today, and the players handled them with a lot of grace. "
