MDI Kids Bake Off for 4th and 5th Graders

Do you have a 4th or 5th grader that goes to one of the MDI schools, the Community School or of an equivalent age and loves to bake? The 2019 MDI Kids Bake Off will be held Saturday, October 5th at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor.

Kids can enter either individually or a s a team of 2. There will be adult supervision but the Kids will be doing the baking! Various awards will be given including 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, Most Creative, Most Flavorful, Best Plating and several honorable mentions.

The event takes place 10-2, but there may be 2 shifts depending upon the number of participants

Everything must be from scratch, no mixes are allowed. Organizers will provide flour, eggs, butter, heavy cream, milk, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla and almond extract and sugar. Contestants should provide any other special ingredients their recipe requires.

Organizers will be renting several counter top ovens and will be able to use the gas ovens at the Neighborhood House. They will have a variety of measuring and mixing equipment but you should consider bringing a small box of your own small wares including measuring equipment etc.
