MDI Girls Defeat Foxcroft Academy 47-35 on Senior Recognition Night [PHOTOS]
The MDI Girls Basketball Team defeated Foxcroft Academy 47-35 on Monday, February 4th on Senior Recognition Night at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor. It was the last home game for Seniors Lindsey McEachern, Julia Watras, Alexis Clarito, Maddy Candage, Hannah Chamberlain and Zoe Parker. The win keeps MDI at the top of the Class B North Heal Point Standings.
MDI jumped out to a 12-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Chamberlain drained 2 3's for 6 points, Maddy Candage had 4 points and Julia Watras 2 points for the Trojans. For the Ponies, Ainsle Ade had 2 3's for 6 points, Cassidy Marsh had a 3-pointer and Cailin Seavey had 2 points.
MDI increased their lead to 5 points at the end of the 2nd Quarter and went into the Half with a 22-17 lead. In the 2nd Quarter Candage had 4 points and Alexis Clarito and Chamberlain each had a 3-pointer for MDI. For Foxcroft Academy Seavey, Aide and Makenzie Beaudry each had 2 points.
MDI made it an 11 point lead in the 3rd Quarter, outscoring the Ponies 12-6 to make the score 34-23. Candage had 5 points, Watras 4 points and Chamberlain sank her 4th 3-pointer of the night. For the Ponies Beaudry had 4 points and Seavey was 2-2 from the free throw line.
In the 4th Quarter Foxcroft Academy cut the lead to 9 points, but that was the closest they would come. Candage had 5 points, Watras 4 points and Chamberlain and Clarito 2 points each. For the Ponies Beaudry had 5 points, Cassidy Marsh a 3-pointer and Seavey and Ade 2 points each.
MDI was led by Maddy Candage with a game high 18 points, while Hannah Chamberlain had 14 points and Julia Watras 10 points. MDI was 8-10 from the free throw line
Foxcroft Academy was led by Mackenzie Beaudry with 11 points while Ainsley Ade had 10 points. The Ponies were 3-4 from the free throw line.
