MDI Boys Soccer Beats Ellsworth 4-1 in Quarterfinals

The 3rd seeded MDI Boys Soccer Team defeated the 6th seeded Ellsworth Eagles 4-1 on Wednesday night, October 30th at Alumni Field in Bar Harbor, in a game broadcast on WDEA Internet Radio

The game was back and forth until slightly over midway through the 1st Half, Nick Dmtrieff put MDI on the scoreboard with an assist from Cole Watson.

The 1st Half ended with MDI on top 1-0

With 4:34 gone in the 2nd Half, Ellsworth tied the score on a header from Matt Reid off of a cross from Sam Holler.

The score remained tied for the next 23 minutes, until Dmitrieff put MDI up for good with a goal with 12:17 left.

Dmitrieff recorded his 3rd goal of the game and the hat trick with 8:15 remaining.

Ieuan Howell scored the 4th and final goal for MDI with 3:29 remaining, to give the Trojans a 4-1 win.

MDI now 11-2-2 will play host to Foxcroft Academy,9-7, the 10th seed, who upset the 2nd seed Winslow Black Raiders 2-1 at Thomas College Wednesday night.

Ellsworth finishes the season at 5-8-2.
