There is a High Wind Warning in effect for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties on Wednesday, September 30th from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Caribou is expecting Southerly winds 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour.

These winds have the potential to blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected.

Versant Power is concerned about the impact of the strong winds with the trees still carrying their leaves. They are advising customers to make a plan for their family in case falling trees block roads or cause power outages. Versant Power is positioning crews in the field and will have extra Customer Service Representatives and other support staff on hand.

If you lose power you can call their Customer Contact Center at 207-973-2000 or fill out a Power Issue Report Form

We will have the latest on power outages and restoration efforts on our website throughout the day on Wednesday, if necessary.
