The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a High Surf Advisory for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties that is in effect from 8 AM Saturday, September 7th to 2 AM Sunday, September 8th. A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for Coastal Waters from Eastport to Schoodic Point out 25 nautical miles. The Tropical Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

High Tides in Bar Harbor on Saturday, September 7th are at 6:10 AM and 6:30 PM. According to the advisory, large 6 foot to 10 foot waves can present a danger to people on rocks above the water. You're advised to stay away from rock outcrops along the shoreline exposed to ocean waves, as waves can easily sweep people into the cold ocean water.

Additionally rip currents are expected, which are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from the shore.
