Heat Advisory In Effect Until 6 PM Saturday July 20th

It's H-O-T! The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Heat Advisory until 6 PM Saturday, July 20th for Coastal Hancock and Washington Counties including Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Machias and Cherryfield.

With temperatures around 90 degrees and dew points around 70 the heat index value will be up to 98 degrees.

The high heat index poses a risk for heat stress and heat related illness for everyone, especially those without air conditioning and those spending significant time outdoors. Pets are also susceptible to heat illness. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Drink plenty of fluids, (non-alcoholic), stay in air conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors
