Grass Fire Off Indian Point Road Contained

The call came in this afternoon of a grass fire off the Indian Point Road on Mount Desert Island at 2:05 PM. As of 4:45 PM the fire is contained, but it took the combined efforts of 8 departments and the Maine Forest Service

Responding to the call for mutual aid were the departments of Bar Harbor, Tremont, Hancock, Mount Desert, Lamoine, Southwest Harbor, Trenton and Blue Hill as well as the Maine Forest Service.

Temperatures will moderate over the next couple of days, but there is only a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday day and 40 percent chance of rain on Friday night with some thunderstorms.

Please insure that all campfires, and cigarette butts are disposed of properly.
