Emera Maine's line crews are fighting an uphill battle on Friday afternoon, trying to bring customers back online, but new damage to transmission lines are occurring throughout the service territory. As of 4:45 PM on Friday there were 55,606 customers without power.

Crews are continuing to focus on addressing emergencies, including downed wires and broken poles. Repairs have been made on parts of the transmission system feeding Greater Bangor, Hancock County and the Down East region.

Thanks to Rainwise we know this morning in the 7AM hour, Strawberry Hill in Bar Harbor had a recorded wind gust of 58 miles per hour and 54.7 miles per hour in the 9AM hour.

With the forecast for lower temperatures overnight Friday, in the low 30's Downeast, and only in the upper 40's on Saturday, those without power as of Friday afternoon, should be making plans to be without power Friday night into Saturday, at a minimum.
