The Ellsworth Eagles Boy's Baseball Team defeated Foxcroft Academy 6-5 in Ellsworth on Saturday, May 31st, winning in extra innings as Mitchell Domagala singled in Brandon Braley with one out.

Through 4 innings, Foxcroft Academy's Abe Simpson and Ellsworth's Conor Maguire were dealing. Simpson for Foxcroft Academy was perfect, he faced 12 Ellsworth batters and retired them all in order. It was only in the bottom of the 5th inning that Ellsworth had their first baserunner, and hit, when Sid St. Peter stroked a single. but he was stranded at second when Simpson struck out three Eagles in succession. Conor Maguire was equally effective through 4 innings,  He had struck out 6, walked 3 and only given up 1 hit.

In the top of the 5th inning, Foxcroft Academy scored twice to take a 2-0 lead.  Tanner Strout singled and stole 2nd base. Nick Decker then walked. Abe Simpson hit a pitch back to Conor Maguire, the pitcher, who threw to 3rd base, getting Strout out, with Simpson reaching on the fielder's choice. Brooks Law then struck out for the second out, but then Hunter Law tripled, and Decker and Simpson scored for the Ponies.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Ellsworth tied the score. Cooper Henderson popped out to 2nd base for the first out of the inning. Aaron Malone singled, and then Steven Mahon singled, so with one out, there were runners on 1st and 2nd. Conor Maguire reached on an error on the Foxcroft Academy second baseman to load the bases, and then Henderson and Mahon both scored when Brandon Braley reached on an error.

In the top of the 7th inning, Foxcroft Academy scored 3 runs. Tanner Strout was hit by a Maguire pitch, and went to 2nd base when Decker reached on an error by Maguire. Simpson singled and the bases were loaded. Brooks Law hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Strout, and there was one out. Hunter Law hit his second triple of the game, scoring Decker and Simpson, his 3rd and 4th runs batted in. Foxcroft Academy led, 5-2, and Ellsworth was coming up for their last licks.

Ellsworth scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, to send the game into extra innings. Nick Bagley singled to start the inning. He then went to 2nd base on a passed ball, and went to 3rd base on a single by Mitchell Domagala. Hunter Cote singled, driving in Bagley. Henderson reached on an error to load the bases, and then Domagala and Cote scored on a double play to tie the score at 5-5.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, it was time for a little Eagle magic. Maguire grounded out to 2nd for the 1st out. Then Braley singled, followed by a St. Peter single. Bagley then walked to load the bases, and that's when Domagala singled to give Ellsworth the walk-off win.

With the victory, Ellsworth is now 6-9 on the season, and play their last game of the regular season Tuesday, June 3rd at home against MDI at 4:30. Foxcroft Academy is now 9-6 and finishes the regular season, Tuesday June 3rd in Bangor against John Bapst at 4:30.
