How fitting to write about Ellsworth's Pride Zoo and the first Ellsworth animal to join it, on National Coming Out Day, October 11th.  On Saturday, October 10th Heart of Ellsworth, Healthy Acadia, and Coastal Interiors sponsored a Pride-related art project for students on Water Street in Downtown Ellsworth.

Ellsworth Pride Zoo

Coastal Interior Design gave the kids permission to paint artwork on the barriers, which are on private property. Professional Artist Noah Poirier acted as Art Director and helped the students design each picture.

Additionally, Lori Chase, owner of Coastal Interior Design, created a new animal for the Pride Zoo for the kids to paint. If anyone is interested in making an animal to add to Ellsworth’s own Pride Zoo, please contact GSDA Advisor Carrie Kutny at Ellsworth High School. The giraffe, ostrich, unicorn, and zebra around town are on loan from Orono High School. Lori’s bear is the first donation to the new Ellsworth Pride Zoo.
