The City of Ellsworth announced that the Knowlton Park Splash Pad would be temporarily closed on Monday, August 8th for a thorough cleaning.

After record breaking temperatures and intense usage thanks to the heat wave, it's a good opportunity for City staff to give the splash pad a thorough cleaning to keep everyone safe for the rest of the summer.

According to the City of Ellsworth the splash pad and changing rooms are open from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. daily when the air temp is over 65F and the bathrooms are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Usage at the splash pad has been extremely high this summer with the hot temperatures combine with the fact that the Glen Mary Wading Pool in Bar Harbor will not be opening.

Ellsworth's Splash Pad opened in 2015, so this marks it's 8th season of fun!

So grab a towel, pack a picnic, don't forget your patience, and head out to Knowlton Park for a great wet time, but just not today, Monday August 8th!
