Ellsworth Water Department Sent Out a Letter to All City Water Customers
If you are a resident or business that uses Ellsworth water, you should have received a letter from the Ellsworth Water Department. The Ellsworth Water Department was required to send out a letter to all 1600 or so accounts about a violation for failure to report the coliform test to the State of Maine in March.
In speaking with Reggie Winslow the Water Superintendent, he explained that the required testing was done, but that there was a mix-up at the lab, and the samples were lost, and the results couldn't be sent.
The City of Ellsworth takes 4 samples from different locations in Branch Lake every month, and tests for coliform bacteria.
The April and May tests were negative for coliform bacteria.
There is no reason to be concerned by this notice.
