
Ellsworth Public Works Projects May 11-16
This will be a busy week for the Ellsworth Public Works Department and if you are traveling in or thru Ellsworth you'll want to be aware of the following projects.
Sunday May 11th at 4 p.m. - The Harbor Parking Lots will close early for painting of parking lines and striping. They should reopen on Monday, May 12. The bathroom facilities at the Marina and Harbor Parking area will reopen on Thursday, May 15th.
Sunday May 11th NIGHT WORK from 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. - There is a lane closure on High Street near Pizza Hut to tap in for a new water line or the High Street Pump Station. Traffic will be moved over to the North bound lanes, with one lane in each direction in the work zone.
Wednesday, May 14th starting at approximately 7 a.m. The left turning lane on High Street to Short Steet will be closed all day for insertion valve installation.
Thursday May 15th NIGHT WORK from 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. All High Street lanes will be closed between Washington Street and Foster Street for the installation of water and sewer line for Merrilll Lane Road construction. Signs will direct drivers to detour on Washington Street-Water Street-Foster Street.. This is the rescheduled date of the May 6th project postponement.
Tuesday May 20th during the day - There will be culvert repair at the intersection of Birch Avenue and Oak Street, reducing the traffic to one lane alternating on both roads.
During the week of May 12th, the Maine Department of Transportation project crew will start preparations for the Bucksport Road and Surry Road intersection realignment. Work will start May 19th and is anticipated to wrap up mid to late June.
Beginning the week of May 12th the Water Department will conduct biannual hydrant flushing. This will continue for 2 weeks.
