Ellsworth Girls Defeat Hermon

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball team traveled to Hermon to take on the Hermon Hawks on Tuesday, December 10th and came away with a 45-31 victory.

It was a game with a tremendous amount of fouls called, a total of 53 fouls, and Hermon was whistled for 29 of them, while Ellsworth was guilty of 24 fouls. It was also a game of missed opportunities, as both teams struggled from the free throw line. Hermon went 2-21 from the line, while Ellsworth hit 20-44, and as often is the case, the team that shoots better from the free throw line wins the game.

Ellsworth led 10-7 after the 1st Quarter, and outscored Hermon 12-1 in the 2nd Quarter, to take a 22-8 halftime lead. The teams played evenly the rest of the game, as each scored 15 points in the 3rd Quarter (Ellsworth on top 37-23) and 8 points in the final, 4th Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Emily Berry with 14 points, while Morgan Card had 13 points. Berry and Card each had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth.

Hermon was led by Bryanne Crouse with 10 points, while Jenna Crouse had 9 points. Jenna Crouse also had a 3-pointer for Hermon.

With the victory, Ellsworth improves to 1-1 on the season, and next play John Bapst, 1-1 on the season at the Cross Insurance Center this Saturday, December 14th at 7 PM. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio. Hermon is now 0-2 on the season, and will play MDI 2-0 on the season, on Friday, December 13th in Bar Harbor.
