Tuesday, July 14th is Election Day in the State of Maine, and the City of Ellsworth announced that City Hall will be closed for regular business on that day.

This means that you won't be able to visit the Code Enforcement, Planning, and Assessing Departments. In person Car Registrations, Tax payments/inquiries, purchasing of trash stickers, IFW licenses, Shellfish Licenses, Vital Records, business licenses and similar tasks will not be permitted that day. You can register your vehicle online via rapid renewal.

City Staff normally involved in other duties will be assisting the City Clerk's office with voting and insuring that COVID-19 guidelines are followed.

Voters assigned to Ward 1 and Ward 4 located in City Hall will be asked to enter City Hall from the Main Street (1 City Hall Plaza parking lot) side of the building on Election Day only. Voters will then be allowed into the building as there is allowable space while enforcing the proper social distancing. All voters will exit the building from the Church Street side of City Hall.

All voters are encouraged to wear a mask while in City Hall for situations when social distancing may not be able to be achieved. The City of Ellsworth is  also encouraging only the voter to come into City Hall during this Election to allow as many voters into the building at one time.
