Ellsworth Christmas Parade Changes into Reverse Parade [UPDATE]
November 30 UPDATE - The "Stationary Parade" will be located along Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School. The public should enter the school road from Forest Avenue. Traffic will flow in one direction to provide an opportunity for viewing. The "Stationary Parade" viewing will begin at 11:00 am and end at 12:00.
The spike in COVID-19 cases has caused the Ellsworth Christmas Parade Committee to make changes in the parade, scheduled for December 5th.
The good news is that the parade will still happen, but rather than the parade coming to you, you will go to the parade! The plan now is that floats will be positioned at a location where the public can drive by. The committee is finalizing the location and will have that information out as soon as possible.
Santa will be at the end of the stationary parade!
This change is being taken out of an abundance of caution. The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) does not support parades because of the possibility of large gatherings.
The route for the parade had been
- Line up at the Maine Coast Mall
- North onto High Street
- Down Main Street
- Turn up State Street
- Disband at Knowlton Park
