DEFY Dolphins Excel at Maine Swimming International Invitational
The Down East Family YMCA Dolphins set 3 state records and several team records over the weekend at the Maine Swimming International Invitational, held in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. The meet was held in an Olympic sized pool (50 meters). Currently, there are no Olympic sized pools in Maine.
Nick Partridge set new state records in the 13-14 boys 50 and 100 meter breaststrokes and Talor Hamilton set a new state record in the Open Men's 50 meter butterfly. In addition to these state records, DEFY swimmers set 19 team records.
Ella Montgomery, 11, set new team records in the 50 backstroke with a time of 35.34, the 100 backstroke, with a time of 1:20.07, the 50 butterfly, with a time of 32.24, the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:17.58 and the 200 Individual Medley, with a time of 2:54.70.
Nick Partridge, 14, set new team records in the 50 freestyle, with a time of 25.54, the 50 breaststroke, with a time of 32.77, the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:09.21, 200 Individual Medley, with a time of 2:24.70, and 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:37.31.
Camden Holmes, 18, set a new team record in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 53.33, and the 50 freestyle, with a time of 23.97.
Sean Hill, 16, set a new team record in the 400 freestyle, with a time of 4:26.48.
Sam Pelletier, 18, set a new team record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:37.52.
Talor Hamilton, 20, set new team records in the 50 butterfly, with a time of 25.69 and the 100 butterfly, with a time of 57.15.
Caroline Mazgaj, Sarah Weaver, Sofia Herrington and Ellie Anderson set a new team record in the 13-14 girls 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:51.51.
Leah MacPherson, Sarah Weaver, Caroline Mazgaj and Ellie Anderson set a new team record in the 13-14 girls 400 Medley Relay with a time of 5:31.82.
Kristy Barry, Dasha Herrington, Ellie Clarke and Rachel Hand set a new Senior girls record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:04.90.
Rachel Hand, Sean Hill, Camden Holmes, Nick Partridge and Sam Pelletier are in College Park, Maryland this week to participate in the YMCA Long Course Nationals.
