Ready for more daylight at night? Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday morning, March 9th at 2 a.m. Remember to turn your clocks AHEAD 1 hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

You will notice this immediately on Sunday morning. Instead of sunrise at 5:55 on Saturday morning, sunrise will be at 6:53 on Sunday morning in Bar Harbor. So, a little darker in the morning. But sunset Sunday night in Bar Harbor will now be at 6:32 instead of 5:31 on Saturday. And by the end of the month, Monday, March 31st we will have our 1st 7 p.m. sunset of 2025!

While you are out shopping this weekend, it's the perfect time to pick up batteries for your smoke detectors. Firefighters recommend changing your smoke detector's batteries twice a year, and the beginning and ending of Daylight Savings Time is the perfect time to do this!

If you are taking your smoke detectors down to see what kind of batteries they use, be sure to put the batteries back in and put them back on the wall until you get the new batteries! After you put the cold items into the fridge/freezer your next step should be to change the batteries and reinstall the smoke detectors!

For those wondering, we will end Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning, at 2 a.m. on November 2nd
