October 27th. UPDATE - In light of the Tragedy in Lewiston and the continued manhunt, the Bar Harbor/Mount Desert Police Department and Bar Harbor Fire Department's free community BBQ on Saturday, October 28th from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. has been canceled.

In light of the tragic events in Lewiston and the State of Maine, Dr. Webster, the principal of the Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor announced that the Halloween Parade scheduled through the Village of Bar Harbor for October 27th has been postponed.

In Bar Harbor today, you can show your support for the Rotary by stopping by the Rotary's Table on Main Street today between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and make a donation of $1.00 or more and have your pinky painted purple! You can also stop in the Thirsty Whale and order a pint of beer and the Whale will donate $1.00 per pint to Rotary's efforts to fight polio.

The 20th Annual MDI Marathon will take place Sunday, October 15th and begins in downtown Bar Harbor and will end in Southwest Harbor. Drivers in the area should exercise caution and be prepared for delays as runners and spectators will be on the course. Early runners will be on the course at 8 AM!

It takes a Village to help supply all the Ledgelawn residents with candy to hand out on Halloween! You can drop off donations of bags of candy which will be distributed to residents through October 27th at the Bar Harbor Hannaford.
