It was a glorious day in Bar Harbor as members of the Village Improvement Association, representatives from the Village of Bar Harbor, local businesses and the general public gathered in Grant Park of the ribbon cutting celebrating the re-opening of the Shore Path.

For those that don't know, Grant Park is located next to the Bar Harbor Inn and is located right on the Shore Path with public parking (paid June-October) adjacent to the park.

Chief David Kerns, represented the Village of Bar Harbor, offering remarks. Then Dick Clough, from the Village Improvement Association talked about the history of the Shore Parth, and the role of the Village Improvement Association, thanking all the donors, small to large, that played such an important role in funding the restoration. He also thanked the residents along the shore path that granted access so the shore patch could be restored so quickly.

There is now a new group, Friends of the Shore Path, who are funding an endowment for future repairs and improvements. Glasses, bags and T-shirts will be and are available for purchase at Window Panes, the Acadia Shops, Geddy’s, Cool as a Moose, The Bar Harbor Inn, and the Bar Harbor Historical Society, with more locations being added. .

With this task completed the Village Improvement Association is turning their attention and fundraising to the restoration and reopening of the Glen Mary Pool in Bar Harbor! Stay tuned as we will bring you more on those efforts and how you can be involved later this summer!
