10AM UPDATE - Tow trucks were unable/unwilling to come out onto the flats, but an excavator did manage to come out there and was able to pull the Jeep out and the family rode off. The tires were under water, so they escaped in the nick of time!

Route 3 has just been resurfaced. Granted there are a few killer pot holes, but compared to the rest of the state, roads in Bar Harbor are in pretty good shape. But apparently this driver decided to go off-roading and drive on the beach with low tide.

Low tide was at 8:14 a.m. on Saturday, July 6. This photo was taken by the Saltair Inn at around 8:30 a.m.

It looks like they're stuck after driving off the bar onto the flats. High tide is at 2:26 p.m. Time's a'ticking!
