Friday night, August 3rd from 10PM to 2 AM Saturday, August 4th members of the Ellsworth Police Department along with members of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department set up sobriety checkpoints on High Street in Ellsworth and Route 1A and Route 3.

Captain Troy Bires reported that they made contact with 600 vehicles and that there were NO arrests or summons issued.

There will be another sobriety checkpoint on Friday August 24th from 10PM through 2AM on Saturday August 25th

The sobriety checkpoints are funded by the Bureau of Highway Safety.
