April Clifford Named Principal of Ellsworth Elementary School
At the Tuesday, May 26th School Board Meeting, April Clifford was appointed the principal of the Ellsworth Elementary School effective July 1, 2020. Clifford, has been the Technology Director for the Ellsworth School Department/RSU 24 since July, 2007. She will replace Cathy Lewis who is retiring.
According to Superintendent Dan Higgins " April Clifford has 25 years’ experience in education, serving the last 13 as the Director of Instructional Technology for the Ellsworth School Department. In addition to her leadership experiences, Mrs. Clifford is well-versed in curriculum, instruction, assessment and the systems and operations of the Ellsworth School Department. Through her role as the District’s Director of IT, she also has extensive experience working collaboratively and successfully with Ellsworth School Department's staff and students in support of the District’s Vision and Mission. She is also active in the Ellsworth community, serving as a coach and on commissions supporting students and recreation. Following a thorough and thoughtful screening and search process, Mrs. Clifford was the unanimous consensus of the Search Committee. "
She began her teaching career at the Bryant E. Moore School as the Technology Integrator in July of 1995 and then went to the Beech Hill School in Otis from 2002 to 2007.
Mrs. Clifford just received her Master of Science degree in Education Leadership in May of 2020 from the University of New England and holds an undergraduate degree from University of Maine Farmington.
She is the mother of 3 girls, Madison, Morgan and Kennedy and Dan Clifford the principal of Ellsworth High School is married to her
