The 2013 Atlantic Hurricane season begins on Saturday, June 1st, and forecasters are predicting this season to be "above normal" and possibly extremely active! Forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expect there to be 7 to 11 hurricanes, with 3-6 major hurricanes. Hurricane season lasts for six months, typically peaking between late August and mid-October.

If you remember, last year Hurricane Sandy was downgraded to tropical storm status just before it made landfall in New Jersey in October. Sandy caused $50 billion in damage.
