MDI Falls to Foxcroft Academy 35-20

The MDI Trojan's football season came to an end, Saturday, November 1st in Dover-Foxcroft, as the Ponies defeated MDI 35-20 in the Quarterfinals of Class C. Foxcroft Academy will play Waterville on Saturday November 8th in the semifinals, and Belfast will play at Winslow next Saturday.

MDI won the coin toss and elected to receive. On the kickoff, MDI fumbled, and Winslow took over on the MDI 42 yard line. Three plays later, Foxcroft Academy quarterback Hunter Smith ran the ball in from 38 yards out, and when Nate Church's kick went through the uprights, Foxcroft Academy led 7-0.

MDI would score with 5:52 left in the 1st Quarter, as Sandy Henggeler ran the ball in from the 5 yard line. The MDI drive was 10 plays and took 5:02. The Trojan's extra point was no good, and Foxcroft Academy led 7-6.

The Ponies made it 14-6 with 12.6 seconds left in the 1st Quarter. Hunter Smith threw a 11 yard pass to Chris Storer, and the extra point was good. The drive took 5:35

The Ponies scored once more in the 1st half, as Smith threw another touchdown pass, this time to Billy Brock, a 16 yarder, and Church's extra point was good. The drive, which took 1:35 made the score 21-6

Foxcroft Academy rushed for 95 yards in the first half, and Smith was 6-8 passing for 63 yards and 2 touchdowns. MDI ran for 104 yards in the first half.

Hunter Smith scored his second touchdown of the night with 3:19 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, running in from 33 yards out. The drive took 2:42. Church's extra point was good, and Foxcroft led MDI 28-6.

With 11:14 remaining in the 4th Quarter, Sandy Henggeler scored again for MDI, this time on a 4 yard run. The 2 point conversion was no good, and the score was 28-12. MDI's drive took 3:56

When MDI kicked off, Billy Brock fielded it on his own 32 and ran the kick back for a touchdown, going 68 yards. The extra point was good, and Foxcroft Academy was up 36-12.

MDI's Sandy Henggeler scored his 3rd touchdown of the night, as he powered the ball in from the 1 yard line with 39.9 seconds left in the game. The Trojans had gotten to the 1 yard line after Jalique Keene who was playing with a separated shoulder had just rushed 60 yards before being dragged down at the 1 yard line. The 2 point conversion was good to Isaiah Keene, and that ended the scoring, with Foxcroft Academy beating MDI 35-20.
