Prior to this winter storm, people remember Stella from Marlon Brando and "A Streetcar Named Desire". But, now thanks to this major storm, Stella is going to be known for the winter storm causing havoc in the Northeast. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 12 Noon today until 1 AM Wednesday, with the bulk of the snow expected late afternoon and early evening in our Down East and Central Maine.

Total snow accumulations for the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor area are expected in the 10 to 14 inch range. It's expected that the snow will mix with freezing rain, sleet or rain overnight. It will be very windy! Winds will be out of the Northeast 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts up to 55 miles per hour.

Many schools and businesses are closing early. Cancellations are expected to pile up for activities later tonight. Be sure to check our cancellation page to stay current. It's a good idea to call before you go to an activity later this afternoon or tonight.
