Trojans Hold Off Mariners 45-43 [RECAP/STATS/PHOTOS]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team beat Oceanside 45-43 as Finn McConomy drained a 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining on Saturday, January 6th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

Oceanside jumped out to a 8-4 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Jack Lombardo and Michael Norton Jr. each had a 3-pointer for the Mariners and Cooper Wirkala had 2 points. For MDI Drew Shea and Owen Mild had 2 points each.

The game was tied 15-15 at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quarter, Colby Lee had 5 points for MDI with a 3-pointer. Derek Collin, Drew Shea and Eli Parady each had 2 points. For Oceanside Amos Anderson, Josh Peaco, and Norton Jr. each had 2 points and Jack Freeman was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was up 32-28 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Finn McConomy had 3 3-pointers for 9 points, Derek Collin had 6 points and Andrew Phelps had 2 points as the Trojans scored 17 points in the 3rd Quarter. For Oceanside Cooper Wirkala had 11 points with a 3-pointer and Norton Jr. had 2 points.

MDI was up 42-41 with 51 seconds remaining before Oceanside went ahead 43-42. McConomy hit his 4th 3-pointer with 7 seconds left to send the Trojan faithful home happy. In the 4th Collin had 5 points, Phelps 3 points and Shea 2 points in addition to McConomy's 3. For Oceanside Trevor Reed had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, Wirlkala had 6 points going 4-4 from the free throw line and Norton Jr. 1 point.

MDI was led by Derek Collin with 13 points while Finn McConomy had 12 points. The Trojans were 4-7 from the free throw line.

Oceanside was led by Cooper Wirkala with a game high 19 points while Michael Norton Jr. and Trevor Reed had 8 points each. The Mariners were 12-14 from the free throw line.
