The Grand Theater In Ellsworth To Debut New Digital Projector System In February [VIDEO]
The Grand on Main Street In Ellsworth will host a “Projector Premiere” on Saturday, February 11th, and show the 3-D movie, Disney Pixar’s “Up via a brand new digital projector, sound system and new screen!
The $165,000 system is the biggest renovation project ever undertaken by The Grand, and includes a special room to keep the new projector dust and moisture free. A press release says that the new system will, "dramatically improve picture quality and sound, offer current release films sooner, show musicals and stage plays through simulcast, include subtitles for National Theater Live broadcasts, and the ability to show films in 3D – the only one of its kind in Hancock County."
Folks at The Grand still need to collect another $12,000 to complete the project.
The Grand Board of Director’s President Carla Haskell says “This is truly community supported performing arts and film. To our projector campaign donors who have had the vision to support arts in Ellsworth: thank you! We’re almost there, but it’s not too late for individuals or businesses in the community to participate and make a contribution to this historic campaign. This projector will serve everyone in our community.”
The showing is free and open to the public, although donations towards the new system will be gladly accepted at the door! Doors open at 7 for the 7:30 showing.
