4th of July

The fact that there was no organized Bar Harbor 4th of July parade in 2020 didn't stop this family and friends who simply created their own on Glen Mary Road! In a homage to the Anah Temple Shrine Cars who normally participate in the Bar Harbor parade each year, we present the Bensons and friends!

Although the traditional festivities in Bar Harbor of the parade, seafood festival and fireworks have been cancelled for the July 4th holiday because of the global pandemic there are still great reasons to head to Bar Harbor!

Here are some important safety tips for your dog this 4th of July

The 4th of July is Saturday. We can either sit back and curse 2020 and bemoan the lack of parades or we can head to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island and take part in the 4th of July Reverse Parade.

The Bar Harbor 4th of July Fireworks are officially not happening in 2020. At a recent Bar Harbor Town Council Meeting the Bar Harbor Town Council voted to pull their funding for the 2020 4th of July in order to reduce the tax burden on the Bar Harbor tax payers especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce is making sure that COVID-19 isn't going to destroy the 4th of July Parade. Rather, they are reaching out to the entire Island community both businesses and residents to make the 2020 4th of July Parade one to remember, by having them decorate their businesses and homes Red White and Blue and creating a walking/driving parade

To the surprise of no one, but to the disappointment of many the Bar Harbor/MDI Rotary Club made the difficult announcement on Monday, May 18th that they were cancelling the 2020 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and Seafood Festival.
