Sumner’s Ainsley Alley Receives MPA Principal’s Award
Ainsley Alley, daughter of Jeff and Angela Alley, a senior at Sumner Memorial High School, has been selected to receive the 2023 Principal's Award, Principal Mr. Jackson Green announced on Thursday, March 9th. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.
Mr. Green described Ainsley as an independent leader that has truly blossomed in her four years at Sumner. “She truly represents the very best of Sumner!,” he noted. Ainsley serves as president of Sumner’s National Honor Society. Throughout her time at Sumner Ainsley also participated in student government, serving currently as President for the Class of 2023, cheerleading and volleyball, as well as in our school-wide musical, where she was selected for a leading role, as Sandy in Grease. In addition, Ainsley also participated in chorus all four years. At most home games Ainlsey volunteers to sing our national anthem. “She does one of the best renditions that I’ve ever heard,” Green noted.
Ainsley Alley, Mr. Green and other award winners and their principals will participate in an Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Jeff’s Catering at 12:30 p.m. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
