Significant Ice Event Possible Sunday January 12
The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Winter Storm Watch for our area from Saturday Night through Sunday Night with the possibility of significant icing in Downeast Maine and the Bangor region.
The Bar Harbor area could receive a quarter to half inch of ice while Bangor and the Machias and the corridor to Machias could receive from a half inch to three quarters of an inch of ice.
This much ice can possibly lead to significant power outages, Everyone should be preparing now for limited travel conditions on Sunday, January 12th. Head to the grocery store Friday or Saturday. You should have batteries, candles at the ready. Be sure to charge your electronic devices on Saturday, in the event you are without power on Saturday. You should also make sure that your vehicles are full of gas. If your water comes from a well, you should have 2-3 days of water available in the event you are without power, so you can drink, flush toilets etc.
