Sea of Blue Autism Walk April 30th

April is National Autism Month. Autism is a developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. It is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, and occurs in approximately 1 out of every 68 births. Autism is five times more prevalent in boys (1 in 42) than girls (1 in 89) and knows no racial, ethnic or social boundaries. Family income, lifestyle and educational levels do not affect the chance of autism’s occurrence.

Former MDI Trojan Chris Heel as part of his senior exhibition in 2014 organized an Autism Awareness Walk and raised over $3000 for the Autism Society of Maine. Now in it's 3rd year, the Sea of Blue Autism Walk will take place on Saturday  April 30th in Northeast Harbor. There is a 2 mile walk and a 5 mile race. All proceeds will go to the Autism Society of Maine. Registration for the walk is $12.00 and for the run is $15 for Eden Athletic members and $20 for nonmembers. To register click HERE
