
MDI 1-Hits Sumner Wins 18-1 in Wednesday’s Exhibition
The MDI Trojans 1-hit the Sumner Tigers in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, April 10th in an exhibition game, winning 18-1.
Jay Haney pitched 4.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, striking out 10 and didn't walk a batter. Colin Sullivan came on in relief throwing 2.0 innings, walking 3 and striking out 5. Joey Wellman-Clouse pitched the final inning, striking out 2 and walking 1.
MDI banged out 11 hits.
Cameron Graham and Jacob Shields each had 2 hits, including a double. Cal Hodgdon had a pair of doubles. Colin Sullivan had a triple. Jay Haney, Nick Jacobs, Ben Ingram and Spencer Grierson each singled for MDI
MDI swiped 4 bases in the game, with Shields, Wellman-Clouse, Mason LaPointer and Jacobs each stealing a base.
Cole Faulkingham had Sumner's lone hit. Connor Eastman, Logan Crowley and Drew Dyer each stole 2 bases. Jacob Beal stole 1 base.
The Tigers used 4 pitchers in the game, striking out 8 and walking 13.
Weather permitting the Trojans will play Belfast in an exhibition game on Thursday, April 11th at 4 p.m. MDI opens the regular season with a doubleheader at home on Saturday, April 20th against Presque Isle with games at 12 noon and 2 p.m.
Sumner opens the regular season Wednesdsay, April 17th at GSA.
