Rotary Club of Ellsworth Holding Fundraiser to Make Improvements at Demeyer Field

Demeyer Field in Ellsworth has been the home field for generations of Ellsworth baseball, softball and T-ball players. Built originally in 1960 with first games played on it in 1962, the fields are in desperate need of improvements critical for the safety of the children and an improved family experience for all.

The fields were named for Fred Demeyer, who was instrumental in the creation of the fields. The fields were donated by the Rotary Club of Ellsworth to the City of Ellsworth in 1974.

The project includes a fenced playground area for siblings to use when the games are in progress, a fence along the pathway that connects all 3 fields and will aid in keeping children from using the busy road. The hope is to repurpose Demeyer 3 for multi-use, and multi-age to include Little League, Farm League, Challenger Little League and to provide for future expanded Challenger programs, YMCA soccer and football programs. Additional parking spaces are also planned along the renovated field to provide for a safer and convenient parking structure.

There will be a fundraiser on Friday, May 17th at Big Cats Catering in Trenton to benefit the improvements. Tickets are $20.00 and will include appetizers. There will be a cash bar. Tickets are available at the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce or from any Rotary member.

Stu Marckoon will be the emcee of the event with both an live and silent auction.
