John Lackey outdueled Justin Verlander and the Boston Red Sox won Game 3 of the American League Championship Series 1-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of 7 series. Lackey went 6 2/3 innings allowing 0 runs, 4 hits, striking out 8 and not allowing any walks. Verlander went 8 innings, throwing 120 pitches, allowing 4 hits, 1 earned run, striking out 10 and giving up 1 walk.

The difference? Mike Napoli with a home run in the top of the 7th inning

Then it was a combination of Tazawa and Uehara. Here Tazawa strikes out Miguel Cabrera with three fastballs to strand two runners on base

And finally Uehara strikes out Avila for the final out!
