The Boston Red Sox swept the New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon, winning 2-0 and have now won a season-high tying 5 straight games.

Rafael Devers was 1-3, hitting a solo home run in the 5th inning to give the Red Sox an insurance run. The homer was his 500th extra base hit of his career, and 15th of the season. He is the youngest Red Sox ever to reach that mark, at 28 years and 234 days.

After the game, multiple outlets including the Boston Globe, and ESPN have reported that the Red Sox have traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Devers had started as designated hitter in al 73 games for the Red Sox this year. But there was tension when he refused to play 1st base when Tristan Casas was injured for the season, and accused the Red Sox of taking away his 3rd base position in the off-season when they acquired Alex Bregman. Devers has played for Boston since 2017, playing in 1053 games and has a career .279 batting average. He signed an 11 year $331 million extension in January 2023.

Brayan Bellow picked up the win and is 3-1 this season. He went 7.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He threw a career high 114 pitches and set a season-high strikeout mark.

Trevor Story was 1-4 and had a RBI single in the 1st inning.

Romy Gonzalez was 1-2 with a triple, scoring on Story's single.
