For the 2nd consecutive night, and the 7th time this season, the Boston Red Sox were shutout, losing Saturday night 3-0 to the Los Angeles Angels. The Red Sox managed only 2 hits, both by Pablo Sandoval.

Rick Porcello pitched 5 innings, and Kole Calhoun hit two home runs off Porcello, both solo homers, one in the 3rd inning and one in the 5th inning. Porcello ended up pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 5. Porcello's record drops to 5-10. Justin Masterson pitched well in relief, going 3 innings, striking out 4 and walking 1.

The Red Sox remain 7.5 games out of first place as the Yankees lost to Seattle 4-3.
