Police Investigating Death of Man in Machias Parking Lot

Police in Machias are investigating after the death of a man who was found injured in a parking lot.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Katy England identified the deceased as 53-year-old Dale Babb of Machias. It was around 2:30 Thursday morning when Machias Police called for assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit. They reported that emergency medical services had responded to a parking lot at 6 Colonial Way in Machias and rendered aid to an injured man. Dale Babb died while being treated at the scene.

His body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be conducted. Police say no foul play is suspected.

Maine State Police were aided by Machias Police, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
