The Maine Principal's Association voted today, 67-29 to approve the new classification system for basketball, effective with the 2015-16 season and as a result, the face of the Big East has changed.

The new Big East will consist of the original eight teams -  Presque Isle,  MDI, Hermon, Old Town, Foxcroft Academy, Ellsworth, Caribou, John Bapst, and they will now be joined by the Central High School Red Devils, Houlton Shiretowners, Washington Academy Raiders, Mattanawcook Academy Lynx and Orono Red Riots, for a total of 13 teams.
In talking to MDI's Bunky Dow, his plan is that MDI will play every BIG East member once, and then they'll fill their remaining 6 games against other Big East teams, so they'll play Ellsworth twice etc. They will not play a Class C team.
Bunky Dow thought that Ellsworth would play 1 Class C team - GSA, but that is still to be determined.
