The Mount Desert Summer Resident's Association (SRA)  is rolling out a program to make grants to local Mount Desert retailers, restaurants, and tourism-driven businesses that are hard hit by the Covid-19 crisis.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday May 8th. The SRA is also accepting donations, and they hope to disburse the grants by mid-May. Note these are grants and not loans! They are available for retail, restaurant and tourism-driven businesses and applications from businesses outside those categories will not be considered.

Recipients of grants will be expected to join the Mount Desert Chamber of Commerce, if they're not a current member, once their application has been approve. The Chamber has provided important input to this program and the SRA believes a strong Chamber means a stronger business community.

Grant size will be determined by the SRA Board, based on its assessment of each applicant's need. They ask if you do not truly need a grant, that you do not apply.

If you have questions, please direct them to  Micki Sumpter at sumpter.micki@gmail.com or to John Boynton, SRA board member, at jb@123neh.com.
