MDI High School Follows MPA and State Mask Guidelines Effective Saturday May 1st
MDI High School Athletic Director Bunky Dow announced that after consultation with Dr. Gousse the Superintendent of Schools of AOS 91 that MDI High School will follow the MPA and State Mask guidelines effective May 1st, 2021 for outdoor events.
In the email, forwarded by Bunky Dow, from Dr. Gousse
"As you are aware, Governor Mills has updated guidelines specific to masking. These guidelines are aligned with CDC, MDOE, DHHS, and the MPA.
Effective Saturday, 01 May 2021, all MDIRSS schools/campuses will update procedures to align with the latest guidance from Maine CDC, MDOE, and the MPA guidance.
This framework is consistent across Hancock County public schools and across our State. I am working on communication to staff and families to be released by Sunday. This communication will update guidelines and expectations for outdoor activities. All students/staff must acknowledge and understand that there are no changes to indoor protocols.
To date, our district has followed guidance from CDC and MDOE; the results speak for themselves- our students, staff, and schools have done a remarkable and successful job in mitigating the spread of COVID-19. Although some may disagree, we will continue to follow this guidance and remain aligned with these guidelines until further notice. As I have stated many times, we have not done enough for some -for others, we have done too much."
Effective May 1st.
- Masks are not required for outdoor practices and competitions. Masks are recommended when 6 feet of physical distance is hard to maintain (for example: athletes on the bench). They are also required when individuals go inside (locker rooms, rest rooms or on the bus)
- SPECTATORS are not required to wear a mask at outside events IF they are able to maintain 6 feet of distancing.
