Bucksport Beats MDI 36-24 [STATS]
The Bucksport Football Team beat MDI 36-24 on Friday, September 18th in Bucksport as Nick DeBeck ran wild, rushing 44 times for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns.
MDI uncharacteristically was flagged over 10 times on the night, and at least 5 times for facemask penalties.
Bucksport took a 8-0 led with 6:20 remaining in the 1st Quarter when DeBeck ran in from 3 yards out. DeBeck then ran in for the 2-point conversion and the Golden Bucks led 8-0. The drive took 1:40.
MDI answered when Asa Joyce ran in from 48 yards out. Kenneth Stilwell powered in for the 2-point conversion and the game was tied with 4:29 left in the 1st Quarter. The Trojan drive took 1:44.
The game was tied 8-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter.
Bucksport made it 16-8 with 11:56 left to play in the 1st Half. Jace Jackson ran in from 2 yards out and then ran in for the 2-point conversion. The drive took 4:20.
MDI answered and the game was tied 16-16 with 3:12 left to play in the 1st Half. Kenneth Stillwell broke a 38 yard run for the touchdown, and Lincoln Gray ran in for the 2-point conversion. The drive too 3:50.
Bucksport scored with just 10.4 seconds left in the 1st half. DeBeck scored from the 1 yard line and then ran in for the 2-point conversion.
Bucksport led 24-16 at the end of the 1st Half.
With 7:21 left in the 3rd Quarter, DeBeck scored again , from 2 yards out. The 2-point conversion was o-good and the Golden Bucks led 30-16.

MDI didn't give up. Asa Joyce ran in from 26 yards out with 5:44 left to play. Stillwell ran in for the 2-point conversion to cut the Golden Buck's led to 6 point 30-24.
The Golden Bucks scored with 34.7 seconds to play to ice the game, when DeBeck scampered in from 24 yards out. The 2-point conversion was no good to make the final 34-26.
MDI is now 1-2 and will travel to Waterville on Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 with the pregame starting at 12:40. The game may also be heard on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
Bucksport is now 2-1. They travel to Orono on Friday, September 25th to play the Red Riots at 7 p.m.
