MDI Girls Beat Ellsworth 33-21 [PHOTOS]

In a game where baskets were at a premium, MDI went 12-18 from the free throw line while Ellsworth went 9-21 and the MDI Trojans beat the Ellsworth Eagles 33-21 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 4th.

Ellsworth led 9-5 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Sargent had 3 points, Katelynn Bagley, Sammy Mason and Callie Hammer each had 2 points for the Eagles. For MDI Julia Watras and Mariah Hamor each had 2 points while Maddy Good had 1 point.

Ellsworth led 14-12 at the end of the 1st Half. Bagley was 2-2 from the free throw line, Trinity Montigny had 2 points and Hannah Sargent was 1-3 from the free throw line for Ellsworth. Ellsworth was 6-13 from the free throw line in the 1st Half. For MDI Maddy Candage had 3 points and Abbe Miller and Alexis Clarito each had 2 points.

MDI took the lead in the 3rd Quarter, 22-20. Maddy Good had 6 points for MDI, Mariah Hamor hit a line drive 3-pointer and Maddy Candage was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth Montigny, Kacie Omlor and Mason each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Julia Watras was 9-12 from the free throw line and Maya Watras added a bucket for MDI. Ellsworth's lone point came from Sammy Mason as she went 1-3 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Julia Watras with 10 points while Maddy Good had 7 points.

Ellsworth was led by Sammy Mason with 5 points while Katelynn Bagley, Trinity Montigny and Hannah Sargent each had 3 points.

MDI is now 5-2 and will play John Bapst at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday, January 6th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Ellsworth is now 2-6 and they play at George Stevens Academy on Monday, January 9th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
