MDI Boys Stunned By PI 60-53 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the Presque Isle Wildcats 60-53 in Presque Isle on Friday, January 27th.

Presque Isle jumped out to a 18-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Eick Tompkins had 6 points for Presque Isle with 2 3-pointers. Bradley Kinney had 6 points, Jason Dumais had 4 points and Patrick Cash had 2 points for the Wildcats. For MDI Russell Kropff had 5 points, Gus Reeves, Drew Rich and Devin Parlatore each had 2 points.

Presque Isle increased the lead to 9 points at the end of the 1st Half, 33-24. Erick Tompkins hit 2 more 3-pointers and had 7 points in the Quarter. Grant Stewart had 4 points, Griffin Guerrette had 3 points and Bradley Kinney had 1 point for the Wildcats. For MDI Gus Reeves had a 3-pointer, Mac Shea had 3 points and Andrew Phelps, Russell Kropff, and Riley Swanson each had 2 points. Derek Collin had 1 point.

In the 3rd Quarter, Presque Isle extended the lead to 12 points, 45-33. Griffin Guerrette had 8 points with a 3-pointer. Johah Hudson and Grant Stewart each had 2 points. For MDI Riley Swanson had a 3-pointer, Mac Shea had 3 points, and Derek Collin had 2 points while Devin Parlatore had 1 point.

MDI was able to cut the lead to 3 points in the 4th Quarter, but were never able to draw nearer. Devin Parlatore had 2 big blocks for MDI. Riley Swanson had 9 points with 2 3-pointers, Derek Collin had 8 points with 2 3-pointers, and Devin Parlatore had a free throw. For Presque Isle, Bradley Kinney and Grant Stewart each had 4 points, Jake Kinney had 3 points and Jonah Hudson was 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Riley Swanson with 14 points while Derek Collin had 11 points. The Trojans were 11-19 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Griffin Guerrette and Erick Tompkins with 13 points each while Bradley Kinney had 11 points and Grant Stewart had 10 points. The Wildcats were 11-19 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 13-1 and will play 4-10 Caribou at 2:30 PM on Saturday January 28th in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Presque Isle is now 9-5 and will play 7-6 Ellsworth in Presque Isle on Saturday, January 28th at 2:30 PM.
