MDI Boys Fall to Hermon 44-31 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team fell to the Hermon Hawks 44-31 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, January 7th.

MDI jumped out to a 7-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Ethan Merchant had a 3-pointer for MDI and Nate Philbrook and Will Hodgdon each had 2 points. For Hermon Jaeden Henderson and Zac Tubbs each had 2 points while Isaac Varney was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Hermon outscored MDI 13-10 to take a 18-17 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Varney had 8 points for the Hawks. Wyatt Gogan had 5 points for Hermon with a 3-pointer. For MDI Ethan Merchant had 4 points while Brady Renault, Nate Philbrook and Porter Isaacs each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter Hermon extended their lead 30-23 outscoring MDI 12-6. For Hermon Varney had 4 points and Gogan and Eli Reed each had a 3 pointer while Isaac Parent had 2 points. For MDI Renault, Cadin Lunt and Isaacs each had 2 points.

Int he 4th Quarter Varney led all scorers with 10 points, while Reed hit his 2nd 3-pointer for Hermon and Gogan had 2 points. For MDI Isaacs had 3 points while Ethan Merchant and Cadin Lunt had 2 points and Brady Renault was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Ethan Merchant with 9 points while Porter Isaacs had 7 points. MDI was 4-10 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Isaac Varney with a game high 22 points. Wyatt Gogan had 10 points. Hermon was 10-24 from the free throw line

MDI is now 4-5 and will play at the Cross Insurance Center on Thursday, January 9th against John Bapst at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Hermon is 8-1 and plays host to Old Town on Thursday January 9th at 7 p.m.
