The MDI Boy's Basketball Team beat John Bapst on Saturday, January 7th in Bar Harbor 72-55 in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate. In the 3rd Quarter John Bapst had the lead for a few minutes before MDI was able to pull away, but the Crusaders hung in all night until midway through the final quarter.

In the 1st Quarter MDI led 21-17 as both teams were racing up and down the court. Riley Swanson had 3 3-pointers for 9 points for MDI, while Mac Shea had 4 points, Aaron Snurkowski had a 3-pointer, Graham Good had 3 points and Andrew Phelps had 2 points for MDI. For John Bapst Darren Hanscom had 8 points, with 2 3-pointers, Noah Tomah had 5 points, Alex Mooney had 2 points and JJ Higgins was 2-2 from the free throw line.

It was 32-27 at Halftime, with MDI in the lead. Graham Good had 4 points, Aaron Snurkowski had another 3-pointer, and Derek Collin and Drew Rich had 2 points each for the Trojans. For the Crusaders, Noah Tomah had 4 points, Sean Joyce had 4 points and Darren Hanscom was 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI led 50-42 at the end of the 3rd Quarter, but Alex Mooney of John Bapst was the star of the Quarter, scoring 13 points for the Crusaders, going 7-7 from the free throw line. He scored 13 of the Crusader's points, with the other 2 coming from Sean Joyce.  For MDI they received 4 points from Drew Rich, Mac Shea and Derek Collin, a 3-pointer from Andrew Phelps, 2 points from Colby Lee and 1 point from Devin Parlatore.

In the 4th Quarter, Russell Kropff scored 5 points for MDI, including a 3-pointer, Mac Shea had 5 points, Andrew Phelps 3 points, Graham Good, James McConomy, Devin Parlatore and Drew Shea all chipped in with 2 points and Aaron Snurkowski was 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Crusaders, Alex Mooney had 7 more points including a 3-pointer and was 4-4 from the free throw line. On the night he was a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe. Jagger Cummings had a 3-pointer, Noah Tomah was 2-2 from the free throw line and JJ Higgins was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Mac Shea with 13 points. Riley Swanson and Graham Good each had 9 points and Andrew Phelps had 8 points. MDI was 5-10 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Alex Mooney with a game high 22 points, Noah Tomah had 11 points and Darren Hanscom had 10 points. The Crusaders were a near perfect 21-23 from the free throw line.

MDI remains unbeaten at 8-0 and will travel to Old Town to play the Coyotes on Wednesday, January 11th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

John Bapst is now 3-7 and will travel to Houlton on Tuesday, January 10th to play the Shiretowners at 7 PM.
