MDI Boys Beat John Bapst 53-27 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team the John Bapst Crusaders 53-27 Thursday night, January 9th at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Jeremy French scored his 1st varsity points for MDI with 2 seconds remaining in the game

MDI jumped out to a 14-7 at the end of the 1st  Quarter.  Nate Philbrook had 4 points for MDI while Porter Isaacs had 3 points. Brady Renault had 3 points and Charlie Parker and Will Hodgdon each had 2 points for the MDI Trojans. For John Bapst Cayman Zephir had 4 points while Rhett McDonald had 3 points.

In the 2nd Quarter John Bapst outscored MDI 12-9 with Zephir hitting a 3 pointer with no time left to pull John Bapst within 4 points 23-19. Zephir had 4 points for John Bapst while McDonald had 6 points. Luke Norman chipped in with 2 points. for MDI Erik Merchant had 3 points while Cadin Lunt, Nate Philbrook and Porter Isaacs each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored John Bapst 17-4 to take a 40-23 lead. Will Hodgdon led MDI with 5 points including a 3-pointer. Porter Isaacs had 4 points while Brady Renault, Maddox Laurendeau, Erik Merchant and Nate Philbrook each had 2 points. For the Crusaders Zephir had John Bapst's 4 points.

In the 4th quarter Brady Renault had 5 points, Ethan Merchant 4 points and French his 1st 2 varsity points for the Trojans. Rhett McDonald scored John Bapst's 4 points.

MDI was led by Brady Renault with 10 points while Porter Isaacs had 9 points. MDI was 12-17 from the free throw line

John Bapst was led by Rhett McDonald with a game high 13 points while Cayman Zephir had 12 points. The Crusaders were 6-18 from the free throw line

MDI is now 5-5 and will play host to Orono on Saturday, January 11th at 4:30 p.m.

John Bapst drops to 0-9 and will play host to Houlton on Saturday, January 11th at 6:30 p.m.
