MDI Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Caribou [PHOTOS]
The MDI Baseball Team split a doubleheader with Caribou on Saturday, April 28th in Bar Harbor. The Trojans lost the 1st game 5-2 before coming back to win the 2nd game 5-4.
The Trojans led 2-1 going into the 7th inning before Caribou scored 4 runs with the winning runs coming with 2 out.
Andrew Kennedy took the loss for MDI, throwing 6.2 innings. He gave up 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1.He allowed 4 runs, 3 of which were earned. Alden Fournier came on in to try and close the game but allowed 1 run, on 1 hit. He walked 1.
Cayden Huck pitched 5 innings for the Vikings. He allowed 2 earned runs, struck out 1, walked 1 and gave up 5 hits. Noah Frost picked up the win in relief, pitching the last 2 innings giving up 2 hits and struck out 2 and walked 2.
Alden Fournier and Andrew Kennedy were each 2-3. Fournier had a double. Stanley Grierson, Sam Keblinsky and Fin McConomy each had a single. Grierson, McConomy and Liam Sullivan each had a stolen base.
For Caribou Dan Randolph had a double. Hayden Hunter, Noah Frost, Matt Nadeau and Cullin Caverhill each had a single.
In the 2nd game Sam Mitchell picked up the win for MDI throwing 5 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 1 of which was earned. He struck out 4 and walked 1. Brady Renault picked up the save, throwing 2 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, which was earned and struck out 1 and walked 1.
Alden Fournier had 2 doubles, going 2-3. Sam Keblinsky, Stanley Grierson, Matt Perconti, Andrew Kennedy and Kyle Nicholson each had a single for MDI. Grierson swiped 3 bases, Fournier 2, and Nick Stanley and Matt Perconti each swiped 1 bag. Keblinsky drove in 2 runs and Perconti had 1 RBI.
For Caribou Alex Ezzy was 3-4 with a double batting leadoff. Carter Muir was 3-3 with 2 doubles. Hayden Hunter , Noah Frost, Brennan Poitras and Cayden Huck each had a single.
MDI is now 3-1 on the season. They will play at Hermon on Tuesday, May 1st at 4:30
Caribou is 1-4 and will play John Bapst in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 5th.
